Hello everyone,
I’m currently a student at Western University, pursuing a degree in Commerce, and I’m exploring potential career paths within finance and accounting. I’m reaching out to gather insights from individuals who have experience in these fields, as well as from professionals who have worked in finance-related roles.
Specifically, I’m interested in understanding the various career options available after completing my degree. Should I focus on roles in accounting, financial analysis, corporate finance, or perhaps venture into fintech or wealth management? Additionally, what are the most valuable skills and certifications that I should be pursuing alongside my academic studies to make myself more marketable to employers?
I would love to hear about your personal experiences in breaking into the finance and accounting sectors. How did you navigate your career journey? What were some key challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them? Moreover, are there any particular resources or networks that helped you in advancing your career or providing mentorship opportunities?
Lastly, if anyone has recommendations on power apps course internships, part-time work, or extracurricular activities that would be beneficial to someone at my stage, that would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking to develop a strong foundation during my time at university to set myself up for success after graduation.
Thanks in advance for your help.
